Camden school, gym credited to ‘unsung heroes’

Camden County Sheriff Gilbert "Whip" Wilson wouldn't take much credit for his own decades-long legacy of service to the city of Camden.

Instead, in his speech Wednesday at the gymnasium at KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy — a gymnasium that now bears his name and the name of his brother Carlton "Muscles" Wilson, a longtime coach and Board of Education member — Wilson lauded the "unsung heroes" who are not only helping drive its resurgence, but are also the people who have been quietly working to improve the city for years.
