KIPP High School is our first high school in Camden. KIPP HS opened in fall 2020 with 9th grade eventually growing to educate students in grades 9-12. KIPP HS serves students from KIPP middle schools (Whittier, Lanning Square) when they step up from 8th grade along with some new-to-KIPP students from other Camden schools. KIPP HS offers a progressive, college-and-career-ready educational experience, with a focus on developing 21st century leadership skills. AP course options will grow as the school grows, and students will have the opportunity to participate in clubs and sports at either KIPP HS or in conjunction with CCSD High Schools before the school is fully grown.
Whether it’s honing the writing skills that help them critically examine complex texts, or learning about managing personal finance, every student is encouraged to forge real-life connections with classroom learning. Colleges who review our students’ applications know that KIPP NJ high school students have competitive profiles as a result of their involvement with AP coursework.
As KIPP High School continues to grow we are also growing their sports programs with many teams already showing great promise! Students have the opportunity to participate in sports like track and field, football, boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, boys and girls volleyball, and soccer, among many others.
Our KIPP Forward college and career counseling team ensures our students engage in enriching summer programming, develop individual career plans, are fully prepared for the SAT college entrance exam, and go on to enroll in a college or career opportunity that meets their interests, abilities, and financial needs. Through our coursework and counseling, we have seen amazing results.
Our curriculum encourages students to think critically, write with passion and have a strong voice. This creative writing essay from KIPP High School student Ana Maria Victorino is an example of how our students shape ideas and share perspective.
