Located in Newark’s Central Ward, NCP continues the tradition of excellence started by KIPP TEAM, Rise, and BOLD Academies as KIPP New Jersey’s newest middle school. Currently serving students in grades 5-6, NCP will grow to serve students in grades 5-8. At NCP, teachers are given a large amount of freedom to figure out what works best for kids, and make it happen in their classrooms. Every day, we help students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths they need to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond.
NCP students explore the world around them through overnight field trips and activities after school. Through a strong college prep curriculum, rigorous instruction, and real-world learning experiences, students are empowered to be critical thinkers and the leaders of tomorrow.
Beyond academics, we also believe that the explicit teaching of character is essential to becoming productive citizens who will contribute to their community. Students learn to use their voice and stand up for what’s right. In academic classes they engage in thoughtful debates with their peers and at all times scholars take pride in the success of their school and themselves.
Every NCP student has his or her own laptop to use throughout the day. Teachers prepare students for careers of the future by incorporating technology skills into their teaching and meeting the needs of individual learners through computer learning programs.
