About Us
NLHS is located in Newark’s Central Ward near NJIT and Rutgers-Newark, is KIPP Newark’s second high school, serving students in grades 9-12. Opened in 2019, NLHS provides a progressive, college-preparatory education. With a strong foundation in integrity, academic excellence, and productive citizenship, NLHS fosters a supportive and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to thrive academically and personally.
Driving Success
At NLHS, students have access to a robust curriculum that includes over six Advanced Placement (AP) courses, an Honors program, and dual enrollment opportunities with elite institutions such as Howard University and Stanford. Career and Technology Education (CTE) courses in healthcare, computer science, entrepreneurship, and education provide students with hands-on career exploration and valuable partnerships with organizations like University Hospital and Benjamin Moore. Enrichment programs in theater, film, visual arts, and performing arts ensure students can explore their passions while preparing for future success.
Building Community
NLHS is more than a school—it’s a community where students, staff, and families come together to create a sense of belonging and purpose. Through service events like the Breast Cancer Walk, Thanksgiving food drive, and Branchbrook Park clean-up, students embody the school’s values while making a tangible impact on their community. With over 15 clubs, diverse sports teams, and unique enrichment opportunities, NLHS inspires and challenges every student to dream big and achieve their goals, all while forming lifelong connections.
