Support Our Scholars

In 2002 we started our first school and crafted a bold vision statement: One day our nation will know Newark and Camden as cities of world class education.

  • Newark is No. 1 in the nation for access to “beat the odds” public schools for both Black and Latino students.1
  • Since KIPP opened our first school in Camden, Camden students are 3X as likely to score proficient on PARCC.
  • KIPP New Jersey alumni are 3x more likely to graduate with a four-year degree.2
  • African American students who attend KIPP Newark Collegiate Academy matriculate to four-year colleges at a higher rate than any other Newark high school.

With the continued spread of COVID-19 and uncertainty surrounding transmission, the decision was made to start the 2020-21 school year 100% remote in Newark and Camden until late October. Around the country COVID-19, has disproportionally impacted the Black and LatinX communities. KIPP is taking every precaution to keep our families and staff safe, and to prevent additional loss of lives and trauma in our cities.3

We continue to support our families by providing meals and groceries and for students to be successful with remote learning, KIPP provided 1:1 technology and hotspots. This support extends to our KIPP alumni as well. For students without a financial buffer, college closures and classes being offered virtually, can provide substantial challenges towards college completion. Our KIPP Through College team has been working hard to support our alumni while they navigate these additional obstacles.

Partner support has been integral in providing the resources and supports our families and students need.  Please consider donating to KIPP to allow us to continue to provide a world class education, as well as the wrap around services our families need to stay focused on their education. We know that this is an unprecedented time for all, and we are grateful for your commitment to our students, families and the continuity of our mission.
